In addition to semester fees, expenses for study and learning materials, students also have to pay for rent, living expenses, insurance and leisure activities. In order to cope with these costs, BAföG and a part-time job are further options for financing studies.
As a student, you receive BAföG if your own financial means and those of your parents or spouse/life partner are not sufficient to finance your studies. Student BAföG is usually granted half as a grant and half as an interest-free loan.
The AStA will gladly advise you on all questions regarding BAföG. The Studierendenwerke will also help you with any questions you may have.
On the pages of the Studierendenwerke you will also find information about other financing options, such as the KfW loan or the Daka loan.
