De-registration

Students are to be exmatriculated if:

  • this is requested by the student (see below for application)
  • the enrollment was brought about by coercion, fraudulent deception or a criminal act
  • an examination required by the examination regulations has been definitively failed in the course of study or the student can no longer be definitively admitted to the examination
  • the decision on the allocation of a study place has been withdrawn during the allocation procedure by the office responsible for allocation
  • the studies in the chosen degree program have been successfully completed and further higher education does not require continued enrollment

Exmatriculation is carried out by the university administration.

Students can be exmatriculated if:

  • the studies have not been taken up or have not re-registered for studies and the fees or contributions to be paid have not been paid despite reminders and setting of deadlines with the threat of the measure being taken
  • the place of residence or stay cannot be determined
  • the fulfillment of the obligations according to the Social Security Code towards the responsible health insurance company has not been proven
  • the right to participate in an examination required by the examination regulations has been lost
  • after enrollment, facts became known and still exist or occur which should have led to the refusal of enrollment or which could lead to the refusal of enrollment

Important notes

In the absence of re-registration, exmatriculation occurs at the end of the semester for which the student enrolled or re-registered for the last time. In all other cases, exmatriculation takes place at the end of the current semester in which the decision was made. Certificates of exmatriculation are issued by the Office of Student Affairs(studiensekretariat@hfmt-koeln.de) upon request.

The application for exmatriculation must be accompanied by:

  • the completed de-registration form
  • proof that the student has returned all instruments and media belonging to the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln and has paid any outstanding debts to the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz.
  • if applicable, matriculation certificates and tickets already issued or handed out, which will take effect in the future, if the de-registration is to be pronounced with immediate effect at the request of the applicant.

The application must be completed in full, signed and submitted to the Office of Student Affairs. More information on exmatriculation can be found in the enrollment regulations of the Cologne University of Music and Dance § 9 in the currently valid version.
