Bachelor of Music -
Strings

Setting the world in vibration.

The string degree program can be studied with violin, viola, cello, or double bass as majors. All string professors* have international concert experience and offer expertise in the major European musical traditions in their various manifestations.
During the course of study, students are encouraged to explore contemporary music as well as gain experience in historical performance practice. A strong foundation is laid through extensive requirements in chamber music and orchestral performance, preparing students for a professional career with a variety of opportunities. The program offers regular opportunities to perform in a variety of ensembles and with a variety of programs. The HfMT Orchestra performs 2-3 performances per semester, often with student competition winners as soloists. Master Classes with special guests are offered regularly.
Students are encouraged to learn about the long-term maintenance of their health as it relates to playing the instrument in preventative subjects offered in Musician's Medicine. In addition, students benefit from the vibrant musical life in Cologne and receive performance opportunities through the numerous collaborations that HfMT Cologne maintains.

Detailed information about each major can be obtained by contacting the respective major instructor directly.

If you have any questions about the program, please contact the relevant contact person(s).
