Senate

The Senate is the highest political decision-making body of the university. It is composed of the Rector as chairperson, the deans and the site director of the Aachen and Wuppertal sites, representatives of the university teachers, the academic staff, the technical and administrative staff, and the students. At the Cologne University of Music and Dance, the Senate is responsible, according to §20 of the Art University Law, for:

• the election of the Rectorate and the Prorectorate
• the enactment and amendment of (framework) regulations
• the proposal for the appointment of the chancellorship
• recommendations and statements concerning art, teaching and research
• the university's plan for the advancement of women
